After obtaining a Master's degree in Chemistry and Biology from Louis Pasteur University (Strasbourg) in 2005, Morgan Donnard joined the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Mulhouse (ENSCMu), where he obtained his PhD in organic chemistry in 2008 under the supervision of Prof. Jacques Eustache. His work focused mainly on olefin metathesis and rearrangement reactions. He then joined Prof. Jonathan Clayden's group in Manchester as a postdoctoral research associate, where he spent two years working on organolithium chemistry applied to asymmetric rearrangements. In early 2011, he returned to France for a second postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. Nicolas Blanchard's team (ENSCMu), where he worked on cycloaddition reactions of imidazoles. In 2012, he was offered a position as a Research Fellow at the CNRS (Ass. Prof.) at the University of Strasbourg. Initially based at the Faculty of Pharmacy (SOMHet team), he joined the School of Chemistry, Polymers and Materials (ECPM) in the spring of 2018 (COHA team). In the fall of 2019, he obtained his Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) and in 2021 his qualification as a professor. In 2025, he was promoted to Director of Research and holds the position of Deputy Director of Unit UMR 7042 (LIMA).
